Filmmaking happened as a side effect.
In the early nineties we were making 3D architectural models and walkthroughs, and at some point the problem became how to put the sequences together. QuickTime had just come out, and for the first time you could edit video on a personal computer instead of on systems only a few could afford. QuickTime opened a door onto a new creative space.
With my closest friend Raffaele Quagliarella we began working for clients. We built a small setup around the Apple Macintosh, and I've stayed there ever since.
Most of my work has been commercial, but the approach hasn't changed: suggest rather than show. Not to reveal, but to let things emerge. The camera withholds as much as it reveals.
This year that curiosity took a different form — a short film made entirely with AI, image and voice included, except the edit. It's called The Duck Journey.
For the first time I'm also developing a personal project, a short film written by Federico Lazzari , co-founder of Ozymandiarts .
