Theatre was there for me from the beginning.
Like many, I started acting in secondary school. In my twenties I wrote music for local musicals. Other things took over for a long time.
Brussels changed that. A series of coincidences, brought me back through music, scores for a children's show, then three full musicals: Alice, Oliver, Matilda.
In 2013 I co-founded Caffè Ristretto , and that's where I began directing. Ten productions since then.
Theatre grew out of humanity's oldest rituals. A defined time and space, separated from the world outside. The work is in creating the right conditions: every gesture, sound, and light cue serving a purpose. A suggestion, not a statement. What happens after belongs to whoever is watching.
If it works, something shifts, and the single person feels part of something far larger than themselves. A grain of sand is nothing. But without the grains, there is no desert.
"The desperate effort that man makes in his attempt to give life any meaning at all, that is theatre.",
